On Saturday, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, attended the award ceremony of the MOSAIC Competition, held at the ministry headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The event was organized by the Innovators and Talents Support Fund in conjunction with the Supreme Council of Universities.
The MOSAIC competition assessed Egyptian universities and research centers on innovation and industry collaboration, using criteria aligned with global innovation and knowledge indices.
Key winners included:
• Ain Shams University (1st place overall among universities)
• Electronics Research Institute (1st among research centers)
• 6 October University (top private university)
• Nile University (top national university)
• New Mansoura University (top new university)
The evaluation was based on five main pillars: human and research capital, infrastructure and business environment, market development, knowledge and technology outputs, and creative outputs. 93 sub-indicators were used to evaluate 51 institutions (39 universities and 12 research centers).
Dr. Ashour emphasized that MOSAIC supports Egypt’s 2030 strategy by fostering academic-industry collaboration to boost national industry and solve development challenges. Dr. Diaa Khalil, Executive Director of the Fund, confirmed the competition’s aim to institutionalize innovation assessment in Egypt’s education system.
