Lieutenant General Eng. Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, and Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held an extensive meeting at the Ministry of Industry, attended by senior officials from both ministries. The meeting aimed to enhance the role of scientific research in supporting Egypt’s industrial and transport sectors.
Minister El-Wazir emphasized that collaboration between the two ministries can help solve major challenges in industry—particularly energy (especially renewable energy), fuel efficiency, and water supply for industry and agriculture. He stressed the importance of utilizing Egypt's scientific base and human capital to achieve sustainable solutions.
The cooperation will also include developing technological solutions for using iron ore in production. He called for activating the role of the Metallurgy and Mining Department at the Tebbin Institute for Mineral Studies.
Dr. Ashour presented the 2030 National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, which identifies key economic sectors across Egypt’s seven regions. He highlighted the “Alliance and Development” initiative, aimed at forming academic alliances to meet regional needs and establish a knowledge-based economy.
Future joint projects include manufacturing low-speed electric vehicles (EV-Tech), with the first 100 units produced using 60% local components—targeting 83% within 3 years. The Ministry of Industry also confirmed local production of 500 EU-certified ventilators using 100% Egyptian technology.
